Military demonstration jets trailed red, white and blue vapor across New York City’s skyline on July Fourth as part of America 250 observances, with CNN identifying the demonstration team as the Blue Angels. Stars and Stripes listed fighter jets, bombers, helicopters, parachute performers, the Blue Angels and Air Thunderbirds demonstration teams, Air Force One and NASA aircraft in a more than nine-hour spectacle. NBC News reported the Blue Angels flew over New York as ships passed through New York Harbor for Sail4th 250. One post disputed CNN’s ID and said the aircraft were Patrouille de France. Flyovers were scheduled around the clock from 1:14 to 10:36 p.m., and authorities warned residents they may hear loud booms throughout the day that can distress people with anxiety, PTSD, neurodivergence, or pets. New York City Mayor Zohran Mamdani lit the Empire State Building in red, white and blue to mark the Fourth of July as part of the celebrations.
