Fishermen Mallory Harrigan, Cliff Russell, and Allan Russell found a starving Arctic fox perched on a small mushroom-shaped iceberg a few miles off Labrador and pulled their crab boat alongside to rescue it. The wet, seagull-attacked fox resisted as they broke its ice floe and used a dip net to coax it aboard, then lay too weak to move and slept much of the trip. The crew made a makeshift bed and tried feeding the fox chips and crackers; it refused food for five to six hours before accepting a tin of Vienna sausages. Back on shore the crew released the revived fox near William's Harbour, and Mallory says she still sees the animal around, exploring old dog houses in the community.
