Lauren Bennett, the English singer who sang on LMFAO’s global hit "Party Rock Anthem," has died at age 37, her former girl group G.R.L. announced on Monday, July 6. G.R.L. said in an Instagram statement, "Our hearts are broken... Her beautiful spirit touched so many lives," and asked that she rest peacefully; the cause of death was not immediately clear. Bennett was a founding member of G.R.L., which broke out with the 2013 track "Vacation" from the Smurfs 2 soundtrack and later featured on Pitbull's 2014 chart hit "Wild Wild Love." She is survived by her daughter Harlow, born in 2019, whom she shared with partner Kenny Wormald, according to the Daily Star. G.R.L. originally included Simone Battle, Emmalyn Estrada, Natasha Slayton and Paula van Oppen; Battle died by suicide at 25 and the group dedicated the single "Lighthouse" to her memory. After leaving The Paradiso Girls, Bennett pursued solo work, releasing the single "Hurricane" in May 2016 and rejoining G.R.L. for a June 2016 reunion and subsequent tours with acts such as S Club Allstars, 5ive and Brovas. Her vocal feature on "Party Rock Anthem" became her first number one single in both the UK and US.
