Ubisoft Barcelona faces layoffs amid Black Flag remake launch
Don't buy the remake to Assassin's Creed: Black Flag. The game just came out and how does the team get rewarded? With layoffs. Why should we reward Ubisoft with our hard earned money?? Boycott this shit! insider-gaming.com/assassins-cr...
If you still think it's okay to buy games after a big corpo fires their employees right after launching a game, YOU are part of the problem.
Also DOOM Dark Ages' DLC released yesterday and ID Software got hit by 136 layoffs (they were only 200) AAA corpos are killing everything
I concluded Ubisoft was trash when they were actually willing to let the original creator of the story go. This just reinforced that belief I had.
🖕🖕 CORPORATIONS, CEOS, AND SHAREHOLDER!!
I mean, it did get leaked days before release; another W for pirates, I suppose.
I'm not paying for a game I beat 10 times. I will not be playing this game even for free because it's from Ubisoft.
does any other industry do this kind of shit as often as the games industry?
Fuck these studios and their treating hard working devs and code monkeys like disposable garbage. It’s past time there were unions for these guys and long term contacts.
I don’t get this company.. they release something great like this and then go and shoot them selves in the foot.
The original is the best AC game just play it
The employees never saw it coming, even though their first task was often to unload computers from a rental truck.
Naming all the game studios behind Assassin's Creed Black Flag Remastered like I'm Yakko in front of a map
Got everything done that I need to get done so now I can spend the rest of the day like this. Game of choice: AC: Black Flag Resynced 🏴☠️.
Thought you were wearing long trousers for a panicky second
I did not see the controller for a second there and I thought you photoshopped out part of your shoulder and arm lmao
This is going to make me consider this game more and more
Very good look on you 🥵
Lucky you! Just heading home now. Loooooong day.
Enjoy that deserved rest! Looking great btw! 😮💨
Ubisoft Barcelona lays off 51 employees on 'Assassin’s Creed Black Flag Resynced' launch day. insider-gaming.com/assassins-cr...
Uno acaba admirando los esfuerzos de Ubisoft por recordarnos periódicamente que son una compañía de mierda y sin valores.
This is just fucked up. I don't know what to say anymore.. 😓
Hey, remember when some folks were pretending to be sad about a Guillemot the other day?
Increíble. En el puto día de salida.
Love this new strategy of 'we're launching our game! btw everyone who made it is jobless now lol'
La bonne blague. Merci Yves. N'achetez pas le jeu.
Pensando pensamientos de mejorarle la iluminación a la empresa con una buena lumbre
Fuck Ubisoft for this, just the worst thing about the game industry is the hire and fire model so the execs can give themselves massive bonuses
E dá vontade de comprar esse jogo depois disso?
"Successful launch! Now let's fire people so we don't have to pay them as much." The AAA industry needs to crash and burn.
Ubisoft devs who worked on Assassin's Creed Black Flag Resynced in Barcelona celebrate the game's launch today by bracing for layoffs. "After 7 years at Ubi... https://kotaku.com/assassins-creed-devs-celebrate-black-flag-remake-launch-with-layoffs-this-is-not-how-i-imagined-it-would-end-2000714209
I saw a post where someone made the connection that a company laying you off right after your product comes out is pretty much stealing your wages from you and, yeah. They’re double dipping, getting all the profit and not having to pay for the team that generated it.
hardly the worst part of this, but an utterly needless shovelful of salt in the wound
at what point do game devs just start holding nearly-completed games hostage because they've been shown that as soon as they release a wildly successful game they'll all be fired
At this point, releasing a game is the leading cause of job termination for people who make video games, followed closely by "work on video games"
You can literally make a successful game and get laid off anyway. The games industry hates workers.
make a bad game? layoffs make a good game? layoffs make an award winning game? layoffs
Meant it the other day that you should make connections with indies looking for publishers this upcoming gamescom if you still want to leap into the games industry. Anyone I know of in a secure enough spot right now is through self-sustainment or mutually beneficial support.
It’s disgusting that this happens so regularly in the industry. People working 7 years on a game only to have anxiety over job security the day of release (when sales success or failure still needs to be accounted for) is a disgrace
they released an unfaithful remake that cut whole sections/scenes in the game that were pretty well enjoyed back in the day, with 80 dollars worth of day one dlc NOT part of the deluxe edition, and followed it up by firing a bunch of folks. stop giving ubisoft your money. this shit is evil
This song but this time exclusively about the video game industry. youtu.be/68juSuQRtMY?...
I've been playing Assassin's Creed: Black Flag Resynced and here's my in-depth views and thoughts on the game from my many hours played including pros and cons! - you're welsh
awesome and sorry to hear that
At least you aren't Irish :3
Video games are meant to be an escape smfh
why i prefered rouge. cause. you are irish
On the other hand, Matt Ryan's voice is. Hoo. It's good.
And what are the cons
Black Flag Resynced is pretty great my reservations about the changes to the original combat gameplay notwithstanding. The parkour is unequivocally leagues better now with the addition of the side eject.
It is a bit absurd that AC1 had some of the best parkour of all time and they are finally learning this
oh how does the combat feel? i am tempted to download it and try this weekend
Is it worth trying if I thought shadows was decent but a bit bulky
I am so glad to hear this. It was my absolute favorite and I can't wait to play again. Sing me all the sea chanties.
First 2 rows I was reading it like you were talking about the band...
I purchased my copy of Black Flag Resynced digitally, specifically to damage the future of gaming. Thank you everyone.
Should've bought 10 copies, then. Pssh...
Thanks. I joined you just last night in doing the same.
With a game called "BLACK FLAG," you didn't digitally pirate it? I'm so disappointed smh.
Mr. Oats I'm afraid the council is going to have to hunt you down for sport.
