TCM Party screens Philadelphia in Tom Hanks tribute

TCM Party is screening Philadelphia (1993) tonight at 10:00 PM ET as part of its TCM 70th Birthday Tribute: Tom Hanks. The Jonathan Demme, directed drama runs 1 hour 59 minutes and stars Tom Hanks, Denzel Washington, and Antonio Banderas. The film follows a lawyer who sues his firm for firing him because he has AIDS. Tom Hanks won the Academy Award for his performance in this film, and Bruce Springsteen’s song "Streets of Philadelphia" won the Oscar for Best Original Song. Tom Hanks went to my high school years before I did. We had the same Drama teacher. He was not the greatest Drama teacher. But he connected with Hanks who thanked him when he won the Oscar for this. #TCMParty #Philadelphia

I missed #Philadelphia on #TCMParty but it remined me of the time when I first saw it. I saw that and Schinder's List in the theaters on the same week I was let go from a job and both movies helped put things in perspective for me.
