Taco Bell removes key ingredients amid parasite spread

foodJul 10, 2026232,737

Taco Bell has temporarily removed lettuce, guacamole, and pico de gallo from many menu items while health officials investigate a multi-state outbreak of Cyclospora cayetanensis. The parasite causes cyclosporiasis, with symptoms including watery diarrhea, loss of appetite, stomach cramps, nausea, and fatigue, and can last weeks if untreated. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention is investigating cases in multiple states, including parts of Texas, and has not reported any confirmed infections directly tied to Taco Bell locations. Taco Bell said it is working with suppliers and health authorities and will restore the ingredients once new supplies are verified safe. The company is not lowering prices for affected burritos, tacos, and bowls and has not announced an end date for the removals. Other major chains are monitoring the situation as the CDC continues its probe into produce-linked Cyclospora cases.

I have a question. If specific Taco Bell ingredients were causing explosive diarrhea, how would you be able to tell

1/4 A stomach parasite doesn't care about politics. It cares about weak safeguards. As Cyclospora cases surge across multiple states, Taco Bell is pulling fresh ingredients while investigators trace the source.
