Fright Club held a watch party for the cult oddity Sharks In Venice as part of its Bad Shark Week programming and closed the screening on a double-twist third act that surprised attendees. Viewers spent the run reacting to the film’s premise that a villain fills Venice’s canals with sharks, then sends divers into those same canals to hunt for his hidden treasure, only to be shocked when the sharks eat them. Several posts singled out Stephen Baldwin’s screen presence, awkward line delivery, and a memorable music cue when a character climbs from the water. Audience members laughed through absurd beats including a chainsaw moment, a looted ugly piece of jewelry, and a repeatedly baffling villain plan summarized as, “I want to send divers to search for treasure, so first I’ll fill the water with sharks.” Some attendees said they stayed because of personal ties to Venice while others compared the movie to Aquarium of the Dead. The watch party ended on a mix of amusement and incredulity as the film’s twin twists landed and the group closed Bad Shark Week’s Sharks In Venice night.
