Clarence Darrow quote misattributed to Mark Twain
Apropos of absolutely nothing at all, that Mark Twain quote was actually from Clarence Darrow, and it's: "I have never killed any one, but I have read some obituary notices with great satisfaction."
Darrow's quote (from 1932) goes well with this one: 'No, but I approve it!' - Ebenezer Hoar, asked whether he would attend Wendell Phillips's funeral, 1884
OR never speak bad of the dead, only good ..... Lindsey Graham is dead - good 👍
That’s so much better than “I’ve never wished for death!” If you’re not wishing for ANY deaths in this economy, you’re part of the problem. I wonder why it got bowdlerized into the weaker, gentler, lamer version? 🤔
Graham's obituary is a surprise - came before long awaited one for Mitch McConnell and Donlad Trump. It's a great opportunity to attribute properly the viral quote misattributed often to Mark Twain. It's a rephrasing of a line written by Clarence Darrow.
Dead? I just had a 20 minutes conversation with him. He sounded strong, talking from both sides of his mouth.

Maybe Mitch beat him by a month… Maybe.
