Warner Bros. moved The Batman: Part II from its October 2027 slot to February 18, 2028, and director Matt Reeves released the film's first camera-test footage featuring Robert Pattinson returning as Batman. Filming for the sequel began in June, and the new February release follows earlier schedules that listed October 1, 2027 and October 2, 2026. Coverage notes this is the first public footage from the production, and commentators pointed out that Pattinson will be almost 42 when the film reaches theaters. The studio also reshuffled other release dates in the same slate change, while outlets reported the delay as yet another postponement in the sequel's rollout.

When The Batman Part II finally comes out, Robert Pattinson, the younger, fresher take on Batman, will be almost 42, four years older than Christian Bale was as the over-the-hill Batman in DKR, and one year younger than Ben Affleck's over-the-hill Batman in BvS:DoJ. variety.com/2026/film/ne...

Quoting this
James Van Fleet12

This is okay, as Pattinson is what we in the biz call a Very Soft Boy. He will remain a VSB so until he’s about 50. This is also true of Tom Holland.

Chris Weston10

This reminds me of the jump from Quantum to Skyfall, making Craig's version the Bond whose spy career took place between films.

Dan of the Year10

To be fair, millennial batman having to delay retirement is pretty on point

e.g. Mark Clapham5

what are we doing here man, years between movies for bits of the long Halloween retold in the most ‘actually, Nolan didnt treat this stuff po-faced enough‘ manner.

BombadilsBoot5

And he's only been Batman for 2 years in canon

On Letterboxd, I make a “My Most Anticipated Films of the Year” list halfway through the year before, and I believe this will be the third year in a row I’ve put The Batman II at the top of the list, only to have to remove it when it gets delayed.

The good news is, by data extrapolated from her parents, Zoe Kravitz will remain stunningly beautiful for the next 40-80 years. So they have time.

Ehh… I’m good with it. The Daniel Craig James Bond was a young rookie in Casino Royale and Quantum of Solace, but then they just skipped ahead to Skyfall where he was too old for this shit, and everyone fucking loved that one. Rightfully so.

Quality over quantity. I’d rather wait and give them the time they need to make something they are proud of than to get something rushed and half assed.

So is Variety saying we should just send him to the bat-farm upstate to frolic with Keaton, Bale, Clooney and Affleck? (RIP Val Kilmer and Adam West)
