Cory Booker grills Todd Blanche at confirmation hearing

politicsJul 15, 20269615,888

At his Senate Judiciary Committee confirmation hearing, Senator Cory Booker pressed DOJ nominee Todd Blanche on the Justice Department's independence and the failure to redact survivors' names and personal information in the Epstein files. Booker asked whether Blanche was involved in Ghislaine Maxwell's transfer to a lower-security facility; Blanche did not answer that question and at one point snapped, "You won't even let me answer!" other video quotes show him saying, "You don't even let me answer, man, that's incredible." Senator Mazie Hirono also challenged Blanche during the hearing, and Senator Sheldon Whitehouse later questioned Blanche's record on transparency and oversight. The Justice Connection released a letter from more than 1,200 former DOJ officials arguing Blanche's personal allegiance to Donald Trump makes him unfit to serve, a point Booker cited in his questioning. Commenters and podcast hosts who covered the hearing praised Booker's line of questioning and urged further scrutiny of Blanche's ties to Trump and handling of Epstein-related matters. The hearing focused attention on redaction failures and Blanche's ties to Trump as core issues senators will weigh during the confirmation process.

Todd Blanche personally REFUSES to meet with the 10 Epstein survivors who are present at his Senate Judiciary hearing within the next 30 days. Instead he wants to punt it to who he claims is the head of the trafficking division. Blanche waffles about notifying the committee if he meets with them.

Todd Blanche just testified under oath that Constitutional rights don’t apply to people who are undocumented living in rhe U.S. This is incorrect. Just wrong. The law is clear. Constitutional protections apply to “all persons” within the country’s borders.
