Liz Oyer Testifies Against Todd Blanche
Former Justice Department Pardon Attorney Elizabeth Oyer is accusing Deputy Attorney General Todd Blanche of making “provably false” statements about why she was fired. Oyer was dismissed after refusing to recommend restoring actor Mel Gibson’s federal gun rights. Gibson lost those rights
after his 2011 misdemeanor domestic violence conviction, and Oyer says his application had not gone through the Justice Department’s normal review process. Oyer alleges she was pressured to approve the recommendation because Gibson is a supporter of Trump. After she refused, she says she was fired.
She also said that Todd Blanche lied under oath and that he does that very casually.
so darn proud of her! spoke so well - a force! @lawyeroyer.com
Firing a career pardon attorney for refusing to let a politically connected domestic abuser legally buy guns is simple corruption. It’s open faced proof that the DOJ is being run like a private law firm to reward allies, putting personal favors above public safety, the law, and morality.
Mel Gibson is just another entitled millionaire that thinks his fame & money should disqualify him from accountability. Fuck him & fuck our two-tired justice system where rich people get away with it all while we “little people” are left holding the bag.
No Justice ⚖️...No fucking peace!
The Blanche meeting with Epstein survivors went as expected. "Lip service", "deflating", "no real commitments", "a lot of diversions", and "it felt like he only had it because his hand was forced." www.rawstory.com/todd-blanche...
Tillis will act like it was genuine and vote to confirm.
It was a dog and pony show so Tillis can vote for him. Now it's all on Tillis.
Now Thom Tillis has to prove whether he’s got balls or he’s just a windbag
It's such a jarring barometer of our national predicament that a bunch of survivors of a trauma as horrifying as Epstein trafficking get a personal meeting with the fucking Attorney General of the United States and their primary takeaway is (quite accurately), "well that was some bullshit"
Yup. He did it to give cover to wavering Republicans to back his nomination. He could have showed up, shoved airpods in his ears and played video games the whole time and they'd still say he met the obligation.
If Tillis confirms after this there is a special place for him.
Republican Sen. Tillis says he will block Todd Blanche’s attorney general nomination unless Blanche meets with survivors of Jeffrey Epstein’s abuse. Just one Republican “no” on the Judiciary Committee could stop the nomination, meaning the survivors hold the key to whether Trump’s pick advances.
He should block it regardless.
I don’t know why this is even a discussion. Blanche should be a hard "no" across the board. Now that Tillis and Cornyn are free from MAGA pressure, they need to join Massie, who has literally accused Blanche of perjury over the Epstein files. Reject Blanche and protect the survivors.
Yea right. Why would we believe these guys?
Even if does meet with them...does that make him qualified? No.
Blanche should not be confirmed.
I truly can’t believe there are ANY yes votes!!!
"Der republikanische Senator #Tillis kündigte an, die Nominierung von Todd #Blanche zum Generalstaatsanwalt zu blockieren, sofern dieser sich nicht mit Überlebenden des Missbrauchs durch Jeffrey #Epstein trifft. Bereits eine einzige Gegenstimme eines Republikaners könnte die Nominierung stoppen."
Well, this just got more interesting!
Blanche really boxed himself in. He said in the hearing yesterday that he legally couldn't meet with the Epstein Survivors.
Call you republican senators now! Tell them hell no on Blanche.
He’ll just lie and say he will. 🙄😡😤🤬
Some good news for once! 👇
He's going to vote to confirm him There are a thousand other reasons not to confirm him
He dying and trying to buy his way out of Hell? I don't care. Do the right thing for once in your fucking life.
Todd Blanche is a microcosm of what our government has become.
Corrupt, vile, embarrassingly anti democratic and full of pathological liars?
Todd Blanche is a symptom of a larger problem: a Justice Department reshaped around personal loyalty to one man rather than the rule of law. Confirming him would cement that shift for years to come.
Imagine, being Trump's "personal attorney" losing the E. Jean Carroll sexual abuse case, resulting in a $5.6M settlement and now, you have to pay the price in servitude. Todd Blanche admits being Trump's personal attorney/friend and will continue to serve him, if confirmed. That's the problem!!!
Every AG that’s in the DOJ during Trump’s terms always work for him not the American people. 🤬🤬
I wish someone would ask Blanche when did he eceive his last check from trump/a trump entity, what it was for and how much? Bet a $1,000 against a slice of bread he would lie.
In the before times, when laws were real, that would be considered a pretty significant conflict of interest.
I don't know very many criminal defense attorneys that tell their client I love you. But here we are.
He’s not gone served the American people is he?
Disqualifying along with other disqualifications.
“Acting Attorney General Todd Blanche's court filing was rebuked by a federal judge appointed by President Donald Trump, who said that it was likely created by artificial intelligence and cited a case that does not exist. The judge did not rule out sanctions in the future.“🤡
AI seems tailor made for chuds like Todd Too dim or lazy to do the thinking or work themselves
I love this for him.
Not disqualifying at all. 🙄
These are NOT serious people.
Probably not the best idea to use AI for a legal filing and overlook that it used fake cases as examples when the judge is already very pissed off at you.
Trump and the GOP Senate are determined to reward this man for every possible heinous act.
@judiciarydems.senate.gov More evidence to reject him.
this was indeed the conclusion of my article recapping Todd Blanche's nomination hearing ballsandstrikes.org/law-politics...
I think GOP senators in the witnesses hearing today confirmed it. The intense focus on trying to disqualify Elizabeth Oyer with all manner of bad faith attacks combined with the attempt to "balance" Epstein survivors with Trump's so-called "angels" was all about shielding Blanche w/o defending him.
You are both absolutely right and his nomination in horrifying.
