Colman Domingo in talks to co-write live-action Princess Tiana film

Deadline reports that Colman Domingo is in talks to co-write an original live-action feature about Princess Tiana inspired by Disney’s 2009 animated film The Princess and the Frog. The story says Domingo, fresh off two Emmy nominations this year and a two-time Oscar nominee, would co-pen the project with Robert O’Hara, the 2020 Tony-nominated writer of Slave Play. Sources describe the project as a spin-off of the animated original rather than a straight remake. Disney is the studio attached, and the project is currently in early development talks according to the report.

I know some of these have been terrible, but there have been good adaptions when they have some leeway. Cinderella, Cruella, Pete's Dragon, etc. Let hope they do something interesting.
