Lawmakers spoke amid a conflict that has dragged on nearly five months and recently saw four service members killed at Muwaffaq Salti Air Base in Jordan and during a controlled detonation in Erbil, raising the U.S. death toll to 17. The Defense Department has said nearly 100 troops were injured since strikes resumed on July 7, with 96 percent returning to duty. Defense Secretary Pete Hegseth told lawmakers the U.S. has spent $37.5 billion in the conflict and requested a $67 billion package to replenish stockpiles and advance other administration priorities.
