Yankovic told TribLIVE he was offered at least $1 million and declined because accepting the money would make him feel "icky." He also recently said he refused a large payday to appear in a commercial for artificial intelligence. Yankovic framed both decisions as matters of personal principle rather than financial necessity, saying, "I don’t need to take any amount of money if it makes me feel icky."
