During interviews promoting his Bigger and Weirder tour, which expanded to 90 cities, 'Weird Al' Yankovic said he turned down a seven-figure offer to perform at the state‑sponsored Riyadh Comedy Festival in Saudi Arabia. Yankovic told TribLIVE he was offered at least $1 million and declined because accepting the money would make him feel "icky." He also recently said he refused a large payday to appear in a commercial for artificial intelligence. Yankovic framed both decisions as matters of personal principle rather than financial necessity, saying, "I don’t need to take any amount of money if it makes me feel icky."

So Weird Al turned down an AI ad and also the Riyadh comedy festival and the lesson is Weird Al has more integrity than the vast majority of entertainers triblive.com/aande/music/...

Weird Al and Dolly Parton are different aspects of the same ethos. Both are prolific, great, genre-defining musicians iconic for intentionally playful, exaggerated personas but universally loved for their authenticity (& kindness). All while working for decades AND maintaining a sense of privacy.
