I kept telling her that induction is better. We now live part-time in a small cottage with an induction cooktop and she admits that it is in fact better

Timothy Ryan15The underlying study has no control group and only enrolls people with poorly controlled asthma. It's just pre/post comparison of asthma symptoms. Results are entirely consistent with reversion to the mean. Or seasonal change, for that matter. Come on people, we can do better!

if you can’t replace your stove, you can get a great little induction hot plate for about $100 mine handles all my pasta, soup, anything that needs boiling or simmering. boils faster than gas, holds a perfect simmer reducing gas use helps even if you can’t quit it

another spooky local trash panda1I think we actually have an induction hotplate. We got it when the line on one of the gas burners started leaking (on Thanksgiving, naturally), lol. Unfortunately, it shorts out the toaster oven & microwave on the best circuit for use (and rewiring the kitchen is the stove replacement barrier).
Arcturus SaDiablo28More on this. Induction uses a LOT less energy than even electric. Also, in side by side tests, it boils water FASTER than either electric or gas. If you have a magnet, test your cookware. If the magnet sticks, you're good to go.
keri5the price has gone up since i got mine (thanks to the fuckery of the last 18 months) but i think the Ikea one is still pretty great for $75, if you're near an Ikea I tried comparison shopping but tbh decision fatigue got me and I just went with easy + they've been selling this model for ages
