#NP The Strokes | Reality Awaits It's a pure pop sugar rush, no other way to describe it. Please don't conflate that with lack of substance: Reality Awaits positively sparkles. The cover art is a bit suspect though: some basic quality control wouldn't have gone amiss. But the music's ace 🎯 👍

I'm halfway through Reality Awaits and I'm kinda with @surber.bsky.social in this. People who want Is This It again might not like this, but it's like a portal into an alternate future in which the third Strokes album leaned harder into "12:51" than "Reptilia". This is pretty delightful.

The Strokes - Reality Awaits (24/07/26) 5.5/10 The Strokes return with their first album since 2020. This lacks the energy I remember them having, and the aggressive use of autotune on some tracks isn't my thing. Some individual songs are decent but as a whole it's a bit of a boring, safe release.
