Katy Perry condemned the White House after its official TikTok account used her 2010 song "Firework" as the soundtrack for footage of U.S. strikes on Iran. Perry said she was "deeply appalled and angry," called the clip a "violation" of the song’s message of hope and healing, and said she did not approve its use. The TikTok video, posted Thursday, showed explosions in Iran with the caption "Iran has been warned," and timed the blasts to the lyric "Boom, boom, boom." Perry framed the pairing of her song and the military footage as the song being "weaponized."
