Avatar Aang: The Last Airbender debuts on Paramount+, early praise
These are the very first paintings I made for Avatar Aang. I designed the art style for the ancient Sonam and Tagah scenes throughout the film!
I want to thank our PD Jake Panian and AD Aaron Loftis for trusting me so much with these parts of the movie! Their incredible leadership and support carried our entire team.
It's a shame that other people on the production team feel comfortable announcing their use of AI.
those scenes truly stole the show and made me love Sonam's design!! You and the team did an amazing job!!!
The art style of these scenes is really beautiful. Stunning work ❤️
Its so stunning and telling of the mood AAAAHHHH I cant wait to see the movie!
felt like we had you to thank you for those gorgeous colours :,)
I'm obsessed with her design
I'm gonna risk being ganged up on and say this about the "Avatar Aang used ChatGPT" thing: Some of y'all are being REALLY unfair to the actual artists who worked on the movie. AFAIK, A/i was used for "research" rather than visuals. Still sucks, but leave the artists out of it.
Let's also consider the timeline of this movie's development. Roughly 5 years ago, give or take, ChatGPT wasn't seen quite as icky as it is now. Some still saw it as a helpful new writing or research tool. Most of us know better NOW, of course.
I think what also doesn’t help is I’ve even seen some people say because of this, the movie deserved to be leaked, while at the same time not caring about the actual artists that worked on it, it’s just ridiculous.
Ok, I see the point here on what they did on Avatar. Maybe it's best we double check to see if it was fooled or not.
THREAD Or, why I'm hesitant to attack any specific person or group concerning the Avatar Aang ChatGPT situation, and don't want to say anything beyond "they've got a lot of explaining to do"
Avatar Aang was clearly made for theatres I wish I was watching it on the big screen there’s so much detail and cinematic framing The sound design fees theatrical
Ok come over we watch on projector
I love how much of the OG animation style was retained in the expressions while adding so much
I remember the early version literally had all the surround sound stuff just missing so half the offscreen quips were just gone
If you are an Avatar: The Last Airbender fan -- be aware they are using ChatGPT. Support human artists, support human-made shows.
In case you think I made this up. Zoom in on the image, specifically towards the top right text box and you will see the words that I have circled in the image
We really can't have shit in 2026. As much I disliked TLOK, at least it was made by humans. At least I could respect the passion and artwork that went into it even if the characters didn't land with me. Fuck AI, fuck Nick and Netflix.
Ahhh Avatar Aang was such a good movie! Definitely got misty eyed being with the characters again after so many years (grew up with the show, like most). Really well done story and the animation quality is top notch!
My only complaint is this not having a theatrical release. It feels like it was really made for it 😩
The animation really blew me away; I have no idea or interest in what the popular perception is but I thought it was a GREAT follow up movie to the series. It felt like finding an artist you loved as a teenager two decades later and seeing how much their work has improved. Still love Zuko 5ever.
Sokka and Zuko remain being the heart throbs u_u ❤️
Wasn’t feeling the best today so I’m glad I resubbed to paramount plus to watch it tonight
