Martin John3King described Carrie as a "chunky girl with pimples on her neck and back and buttocks," and a "frog among swans." I'm not seeing much of that here, and that takes away so much from the character of Carrie. I'll reserve judgement, but I'd like'd to have seen some of that here.

Trent Kallust1Alright, I'll call a shot... Flanagan speedruns straight to full iconic De Palma homage ending in the first episode and then the remainder of the show is dealing with the psychological fallout for everyone and the conflicts that creates.
Ryan Lohner (he/him)1It's weirdly memory-holed that before the one remake that everyone hates, there was a TV movie in 2002 where she lives...because it was one of those failed pilots that gets broadcast as a standalone thing and was supposed to lead to her being some kind of roaming psychic vigilante.
What if "Carrie," but slightly mousy? Honestly, if it weren't for the fact that Mike Flanagan has earned some wait-and-see faith, I would say this trailer makes "Carrie" look somewhere between "generic and unremarkable" and "dismal."

Mike Cook1I like his original stuff - midnight mass, haunting of hill house. Not really his adaptations - doctor sleep, house of usher. With king in particular, I think he’ll be too slavish to the beats of the book to be innovative. So it’s kinda doomed to be a stretched out modern version of the movie. 🤷🏼♂️
