Sepang to host Bahrain Grand Prix in Malaysia, Oct 2, 4

Formula 1 will hold the Gulf Air Bahrain Grand Prix at Malaysia's Sepang International Circuit on 2-4 October 2026 after Bahrain's April race was cancelled because of the war in the Middle East. F1 said staging the Bahrain Grand Prix in Malaysia ensures the sport can still "deliver 23 races for the 2026 season" and that the rest of the calendar remains unchanged; the Sepang event takes place a week before the Singapore Grand Prix. The arrangement was driven in part by Bahrain's Crown Prince Salman bin Hamad Al Khalifa and won backing from both Bahraini and Malaysian monarchs, F1 chief executive Stefano Domenicali said, praising Sepang's place in the sport's history. Sepang last hosted an F1 race in 2017 and originally joined the calendar in 1999. F1 warned uncertainty remains over the final two scheduled Middle East rounds in Qatar and Abu Dhabi because of the war, and it is considering contingency replacements including Imola, with Portimao and Istanbul Park also under review if those races cannot proceed.
