Jon Stewart rips Trump over White House Correspondents' Dinner remarks

On The Daily Show Jon Stewart sharply criticized President Donald Trump’s rescheduled White House Correspondents’ Dinner remarks, calling many of the jokes ill-fated and poorly delivered. Stewart singled out Trump’s jabs at CNN’s Kaitlan Collins about her looks and smile and noted a meandering joke about Rep. Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez that never landed because Trump diverted midsetup. Stewart also highlighted Trump repeating his claim that he hates Sen. Adam Schiff, arguing that roasting loses pleasure when it is framed as genuine hatred and comparing that turn to an inappropriate postscript to a roast. Stewart played a montage of the room’s responses and said the audience registered a "melange of confusion, boredom, shock, and at one point, a literal existential crisis." CNN’s Kaitlan Collins was a guest on the program and rebutted Trump during the interview, describing her approach to handling his insults. Stewart closed by warning that a comedian should not leave an audience rethinking the choices that led them to that night.
