New Variant of Super Mario Bros. Cartridge Discovered
Testing a bunch of GB games to make sure their batteries still work and I think I can safely say Super Mario Bros. Deluxe is fine.
And this is why she was always in another castle, but Mario could never take a hint.
All the more reason to be proud. 1up to gaming sister. ❤️
Peach when her girlfriends Daisy and Rosalina show up:
me too peach me too
Yes it's all over world.. same..
I wonder if the Capital One Bank Guy ever played Super Mario Bros Deluxe
A Bowser course select screen, long thought unused in Super Mario 64 DS, can actually be seen by performing an absurdly specific action: Yoshi must drown underneath the Hazy Maze Cave entrance. If his lifeless body floats up through the pool, the screen will be displayed.
Me killing my Yoshi to see cut content

that is SUCH a weird way to trigger that. i wonder what the intent was, or what edge case lead to it being loaded
How oddly fitting for finding a Bowser screen.
This is definitely one of those finds that sounds like an urban legend you'd hear on the playground xD
If Yoshi’s lifeless body floats up through the pool, spring will begin. If his lifeless body doesn’t float up through the pool, we’ll get six more weeks of winter.
The location as to where this is able to be seen DOES make sense when you look at a certain beta screenshot of 64DS
Who knew that killing yoshi would be the only way to see cut content in game?
this one is some genuine creepypasta shit. just use yoshi's lifeless drowned corpse and throw it into the caves. then bowser's secret lair shall reveal itself
see I was just saying Mario 64 DS lends itself to weird route creepypasta stuff and then here's a real glitch that takes you to an evil version of the Level Select screen if you drown yourself out of bounds oh my god
Fucking creepypasta shenanigans I swear
If you said this was a thing back when the game first released, people would think it was one of those fake rumours like unlocking Luigi in the original Super Mario 64 or Waluigi in this version. It sounds approximately as unbelievable.

This is how I learn that dying at Peach's Castle sends you to the entrance outside. All my years playing Super Mario 64, "I should kill myself in the main hub and see what happens," never once crossed my mind.
This happened to my buddy Ben once
Pretty crazy stuff if you haven't seen it - a game store owner had a box of Super Mario/Duck Hunt carts that turned out to be - brand new - manufactured in 1993 (!) - an extremely late variant unknown to collectors nintendowire.com/news/2026/07...
Apparently these were intended to be scrapped for the gold in the pins. Seems like Nintendo basically made one last batch of Mario/Duck Hunt carts to fill any remaining needs, and then didn't actually need many of them after all.
The moneyball move would have been to trickle one or two of these out for top dollar before letting everyone know there are 97 of them. 🤭
Crazy people are still discovering this stuff. Awesome.
the news about this circulating via an ai generated article + they're already in collector bro boxes feels like quite a microcosm of what happened to retro gaming
I find it amusing that so few of these pristine, baggy-packed games were given a 10 grading. How ridiculous
Man between this and that reddit post of old Pokemon cards getting discovered, it's been a wild as heck past week - www.reddit.com/r/PokemonTCG...
my theory: I don’t think these were ever for sale or intended for sale. I think Nintendo manufactured these in 1993 to have “stock-on-hand” to replace broken SMB/Duck Hunt carts, and that they were sent to the smelter once NES support wound down (August 14, 1995). The timeline lines up nicely.
A New Super Mario Bros. Just Dropped.
Donate to me so I can buy one of these PSA 10 carts just to rip it out of its plastic prison and shove it in an NES. :3c
This guy straight up found an artifact from another dimension.
New Super Mario Bros Cryptid just dropped
How do you...even...find stuff like this? And to consider selling one of these at 15 bucks a pop. I'm dead. #blutoid
if youre first thought is to get games graded you are a fucking terrorist
This is cool from a lil historical curiosity perspective but I'm kind of getting tired of business guys getting more chances to charge like a thousand dollars for smb1 over and over
It's funny, because this is otherwise like a ten dollar game but it being such a late release and outside of the normal bundle makes int an anomaly
Can this mean standard ass SMB can go back to a regular price now PLEASE
retroachievements is so conceptually wild to me. who's playing super mario bros. and going "yeah this is good but it's missing a little popup when i collect 50 coins"
on some level i can see how they can highlight cool secrets and tricks in games and the people making achievement sets tend to be pretty passionate about the source material, but it's still a weird layer of external overhead over the original game that just doesn't sit right with me
honestly i love seeing what random shit they make into specific achievements lmao
i kind aget it for mario, the first version i played was super mario bros. deluxe which had extra shit in (red coins, yoshi eggs) it that would be nice to have tracked. stuff like 50 coins collected is funny tho
i kinda like it partly because it tickles the Number Go Up part of my brain and partly because most of the achievement sets ask you to do kinda esoteric shit i wouldn't have considered otherwise
On Monday's episode, we are joined by the talented and lovely @tiffbaxter.bsky.social to talk about Super Mario World 2... or is that Super Mario Bros 5? Or is that Super Mario Advance 3?? We're talking Yoshi's Island, of course. What are your thoughts on this title?
I love Yoshi's Island. My mom had a 100% file and some of my favorite times as a kid was listening to her play.
It remains as timelessly beautiful as it did back in the day with so much charm and whimsy. …But - oofa DOOFA - trying to 100% it sure is an extreme test of human patience, even with NSO rewind.
