Trump Media and Technology Group on Saturday launched Truth API, a paid data service that gives businesses a licensed, real-time feed of Truth Social posts described as “the platform’s most market-moving Truths,” interim CEO Kevin McGurn said. Trading firms and other subscribers can pay as much as $100,000 per month for faster, earlier access to posts from high-profile accounts, including Donald Trump’s @realDonaldTrump account, which had about 13 million followers. Critics called the offering a potential vehicle for market manipulation and insider trading because Trump frequently posts policy announcements that can move markets and he is the platform’s largest shareholder. Democratic senators Adam Schiff and Elizabeth Warren asked the Securities and Exchange Commission to investigate whether the service breaks securities laws in a letter to SEC chair Paul Atkins. Trump Media’s stock has fallen more than 70% since the president took office, wiping roughly $6 billion in shareholder value, though shares rose about 5.5% to $10.39 the day before the API debuted. The company said the new product could diversify revenue beyond advertising if it attracts subscribers at the advertised price points.
