Ariana Grande will step back from public appearances when her Eternal Sunshine world tour ends next month and has withdrawn from the West End revival of Stephen Sondheim's Sunday in the Park with George, producers confirmed. A representative told People magazine the 33-year-old singer will take a "step back from visibility" after "endless, ongoing public scrutiny," and said she intends to finish the tour "on a high note, both healthily and happily." The Barbican production, scheduled for 2027, had billed Grande to appear opposite Jonathan Bailey; Empire Street Productions said the show will go ahead without her and a replacement has not yet been named. Media and public scrutiny of Grande's physical appearance and health intensified after the release of her album Petal two days ago and a music video in which her character faces harsh casting criticism and later attacks critics with a chainsaw. Her representative noted the physical, athletic nature of her live show and framed the break as time away from public-facing work and appearances that have provoked ongoing scrutiny.

I’m happy that Ariana Grande is doing what is right for her mental health, but stepping out of the public eye after her tour because too many people tried to police her body is so painful to hear about - especially as someone in long-term recovery with an ED and ridiculed last year for my body size
