Ariana Grande withdraws from West End role, to 'step back' from visibility

Ariana Grande, 33, has withdrawn from the planned West End revival of Stephen Sondheim's Sunday in the Park with George at the Barbican and will "take a step back from visibility" after her Eternal Sunshine world tour finishes next month, her representative told People. Empire Street Productions confirmed the show will go ahead without Grande and said it fully understands and supports her decision; a replacement has not been named. Grande's representative said the choice follows "endless, ongoing public scrutiny" of her physical appearance and health, which intensified after the release of her new album Petal and its single Petal music video. The representative added that Grande performs a very physical, athletic show and intends to finish the tour "healthily and happily" before pausing public-facing work and appearances. The West End production had billed Grande to appear alongside Jonathan Bailey and had been scheduled for 2027 at the Barbican.

I feel really sad for Ariana Grande. Ppl are not gonna be happy until either: A) She’s forced to reveal a medical condition she wanted to keep private or, even worse, B) Forced to publicly admit she’s dealing with disordered eating. What an absolutely cruel situation to put someone else in.
