Two deaths in Michigan linked to cyclospora outbreak tied to Taylor Farms
When people die and the media says they had “pre-existing conditions”… they’re pacifying the public. Anyone could die from Cyclosporiasis, but they want you to believe it can’t happen to you. It can only happen to the weak, the disabled, the elderly. The expendable people. Eugenics.
Reminds me of a "lovely" conversation I overheard at work, one day. We had some wannabe land mogul nepoboy bragging, during the initial year of the pandemic, about how he doesn't mask up or anything because "it's just old people dying anyway." To my senior parents, who were a year off retiring.
This is also exactly what RFK Jr said about COVID multiple times.
That’s how Covid is looked at now. “Only the elderly were in danger.” Sorry, I lived it, I saw it and I social distanced. That and the vaccine saved lives and I will believe that until I die… hopefully of old age because medical miracles continue to protect me.
"Pre-existing conditions" is covid code for "deserved to die"
I’m 73. I got cyclospora 2 years ago from swimming in a local pond. Ain’t gonna lie: it was 6 AWFUL WEEKS. Once diagnosed - antibiotics cured quickly. Covid traumatized us all. But… this is not spread person to person, diagnosis should be quick and we have a readily available cure. TG 🙏
It's crazy how deeply entrenched America is in eugenics and how it's engrained in the fabric of this country's rhetoric regardinh medicine, medical issues, psychology, healthcare, and sickness. 🤢
Food should be safe enough that children, elderly, sick, and people with chronic conditions can eat.
What’s important to know is that prevention is key for cyclosporiasis because the ONLY surefire cure is Bactrim. Unfortunately many people (ME) are allergic to sulfa drugs and the only way you find that out is when your tongue swells in your mouth and you break out in hives like I did
I think this gets nuanced in a way we do not want to say. Cycloporiasis is dangerous but typically do not kill those who are infected. I think in this case it is important to note that these individuals had comorbidities that increased the likelihood of death. Not being dismissive but nuanced.
This is how they get you to feel okay about diarrhea lettuce. Reminder that paying a monopoly to eat literal shit is not okay. And yes, this is eugenics.
It was only a matter of time. Last week a commenter on one of my threads about this told me to calm down, diarrhea is only an inconvenience, and that no one is going to die from this. Anyone who knows anything about medicine knows that people die from diarrhea every day. Severe diarrhea is serious.
also as a way to say it doesn't matter because people who already have health conditions don't count. like they can't imagine maybe we want them to live longer??? maybe i want my granny to hang around
Directly related to RFK Jr's cuts to CDC which used to track this parasite. Now it has spread to 40+ states and causes "explosive diarrhea" apnews.com/article/mich...
I live very near the CDC & therefore near people who've worked there for years. You can TASTE the seething anger at RFK, Jr. in these neighbourhoods.
RFK Jr. focused on rewriting the history of the Covid Pandemic to exonerate Trump while Measles spreads, Ebola threatens, and parasites kill us for having a little salad.
So funny. Use your brain when voting or you can get explosive diarrhea.
Can someone send it to MAL?
The FDA cyclospora page hasn't been updated in more than a week www.fda.gov/food/outbrea...
oof *TACO BELL MET WITH MICHIGAN ABOUT PARASITE WEEKS BEFORE RECALL *YUM! BRANDS SHARES EXTEND DECLINE TO AS MUCH AS 3.4%
So the media and Michigan public health authorities were both doing better at tracing this outbreak than FDA was? We don’t abuse Elon fucking Musk on this website enough
Ultimately, it’s Taylor Farms’ fault, but this is a really bad look for Taco Bell…
So Taco Bell knew before anyone got sick?
Suggest adding a ton of hot sauce to kill the larval stage-I was the top microbiology LAB student in my class-microscopic organisms are far more terrifying than any science fiction!
It is with a heavy sigh and heavy heart that I relinquish my defense of Taco Bell on the matter of: Diarrhea Lettuce. I will still defend them on: New Cantina Menu
"...weeks before the company officially alerted consumers..."
Time to buy some Taco Bell stock I guess (This isn’t an advice, I’m stupid. It’s just all so stupid)
I wish we had a functioning federal government
Two people have died in the cyclospora outbreak in Michigan, state health officials announced Monday, the first deaths confirmed in the U.S. related to the microscopic parasite. apnews.com/article/mich...
RFK Jr is too busy promoting his cooking show (offal, anyone?) to worry about a pesky outbreak that causes explosive diarrhea, and now death.
The USA is shitting blood.
Time for a class action lawsuit against taylor farms. Taco bell did not grow that fucking lettuce
