Gianni Infantino apologises, remains FIFA president after Rabat meeting
it's time: we would like to nominate ourselves to be President of Fifa www.bbc.co.uk/sport/footba...
our manifesto includes making the World Cup into an actual cup, replacing penalty shootouts with a ploughing championship, a greater number of straw man arguments, and renaming var to baa
You should get the peace prize anyway. But you wouldn't be able to award it to yourself. ... oh wait, it's fifa...
This is the football we need …
“Fifa will no longer tolerate attacks on its integrity, good governance and due process and will take all necessary measures to protect its name and reputation” Infantino digs in, in the way only a dictator knows how. Shocking and not shocking in the slightest. www.theguardian.com/football/202...
If they really want to protect there name and reputation, Infantio would be gone. They want to protect there jobs and income. nothing more, nothing less. I'll welcome the "UEFA Around the World Cup"
Got caught out and will now be more sneaky. If FIFA had a spine then he would have been out by now. But they have form. I expect the sell off to happen still. Will the regions roll over.
Integrity? Over to you Inigo
Fun fact: Gianni Infantino is Italian for "giant baby."
This might be the case as if yesterday. Look 👀, posdible incoming legal action from UEFA who intend to clean this up. Hope they've kept ALL correspondence as instructed to do so .
It will be interesting to see UEFA's response. IT would appear from reports so far that they are simply seeking to find a candidate to oppose him. But that surely isn't good enough. FIFA needs to be recalibrated. This management needs to be replaced, and the entire structure rebuilt.
It reads a bit like parody. Update from the FIFA president. All the ’lads’ in the room in Rabat owe their job to Infantino. Interesting line - “Fifa will no longer tolerate any attacks on its integrity.”
“Mistakes were made” and “errors were made” … by whom? Just like from amongst the ether? Passive voice working overtime throughout.
Gianni's gaslighting is off the charts
saying “mistakes were made” without acknowledging which mistakes were made probably isn’t the best way to get your critics to back off!
This seems like a very narrow letter to be honest. Like it basically establishes that Gianni isn’t resigning unless forced via no-confidence vote but literally nothing beyond that.
"We made a terrible mistake and we're sorry. Because we've apologized you're not allowed to be mad at us anymore or we will sue you."
"Mistakes were made" "Errors were made" BY WHOM MOTHERFUCKERS
The thought "I miss Sepp Blatter" crossed my mind, and I feel disgusting about it
As Infantino heads to Colombia to attend the inauguration of the new president, the idea that FIFA and football are apolitical is out the window. www.theguardian.com/football/202...
Fifa executives really just don't get it. It's not just the World Cup sell-off plan. Infantino has been flying around in private jets, and was behind the absurd 'Peace Prize' awarded to Trump. Shouldn't FIFA's president be an administrator, dull and ordinary. Like your school geography teacher? 🤔
Why is he doing that?
"A FIFA statement"? FIFA is currently personified by Infantino. So a statement has been issued to save his job?
Spineless. I can't see the member associations who've already turned on Infantino going "Oh well that's alright then" www.bbc.co.uk/sport/footba...
He needs to go. Personally think FIFA should be disbanded and they set up a new football organisation with a brand new set of people. It’s been stuffed full of scandal and corruption for years.
I heard an interview on bbc World service overnight with the head of Malawi FA. He's happy to carry on supporting Infantino and said most African countries would be doing the same, the really want that 40m 'for grassroots football' 🤔
He knows he has the CAF, and a lot of the AFC associations (despite the AFCs overall stance) in his pocket thanks to years of Bribes... I mean "investment" from Fifa under his rule, so he knows he's safe in his position.
Did any of the dissenters make it out though? This could be Infantino’s Red Wedding
