Metroid celebrates 40th anniversary

Metroid marks its 40th anniversary as fans and creators post tributes, fan art and playthroughs celebrating Samus Aran and the series. Social posts display new and reposted fan art in pixel, 80s and anime styles, renders and sketches, plus threads collecting artists' work from across the years. Several contributors referenced specific series elements, from Zero Suit and power-up retention wishes to memories of the original Famicom Disk release and lost projects tied to that era. Other posts share longtime personal favorites, noting Metroid soundtracks and gameplay as formative influences and promising marathon playthroughs and celebratory threads. The overall activity centers on visual homage and nostalgia rather than official events or new releases.
