Amber heat-health alerts from the UK Health Security Agency are in force across most of England from Tuesday until Friday evening as a fifth summer heatwave begins. The UKHSA warns significant impacts are likely across health and social care, including a rise in deaths, and expects high and even extreme temperatures through the week. Widespread temperatures will be in the low to mid-30s Celsius, with parts of the Midlands, eastern and south-east England possibly reaching 35 to 36C by Thursday and Friday; the North East has a lower yellow alert. Overnight minimums are forecast to stay around 16 to 18C, with possible “tropical nights” above 20C in south-east England. The heat will intensify and spread on Wednesday, with areas from South Yorkshire to east Wales, Somerset and across central England exceeding 30C and some warmth reaching northern England, Scotland and Northern Ireland. The alerts follow a drought declaration covering 71.3% of England and four more regions moved into drought on Monday: the East Midlands, Lincolnshire and Northamptonshire, Kent and East Sussex, and Solent and the South Downs. The Met Office may consider issuing extreme heat warnings, which would flag risks to infrastructure as well as health.

I know it's the seflish human angle, but perhaps it's time (long past) to build some reservoirs, instead of data centres. I'm with you Guy, this is very depressing. Working in the heat is debilitating, and then getting decent sleep is difficult as well.
