Had a fairly disappointing Solar Eclipse yesterday. After months of blue skies the cloud rolled in at the start and out at the end of it! I was out in the garden with a welding shield and my camera ready to go! This is the only glimpse I got. #ecilpse #solareclipse #ECK #photography
mrproduce.bsky.social2I drove for one hour to see the amazing meteor shower tonight. Wanted to get away from the city lights and into the country. Fog and cloudy skies made it impossible to see one meteor much less 100 per hour. But I tried.
norfolkm2We had clear skies but my phone couldn’t handle it. However, while the birds were perhaps a little quieter, the pigeons kept up their constant calls. Gulls, pigeons and corvids kept foraging in the harvested wheat field and on a few groups of corvids were flying around in pre-roosting patterns.

OCB16403For years I went to the standing stones at Sighthill for the Solstice, with Duncan Lunan - the guy who moved them there. We never saw a clear sunrise. It’s Scotland FFS! As a bairn i remember running in & saying”maw, there’s a weird angry orange ball in the sky” “Aye, it’s called ‘the Sun’”
mrtoads.bsky.social1I used to offer programs for people to come to the place I ran to sit out in lounge chairs away from light pollution and watch the Perseid meteor shower. Every year it was heavy overcast. One year it rained. The best viewing year I ever had was the year I gave up and watched by myself.

It was good to see all the extra business for the sea front food wagons and ice cream stalls that they would not usually have got on a Wednesday evening. 3 ambulances turned up, but it was not clear what had happened.

Peter Keen1I messed up my original location so just drove through the countryside until I found another one that was suitable. That was pretty much in the middle of nowhere around 10 miles out of town. In the space of 30 minutes we were joined by around 8 or 9 other cars. I guess the same happened elsewhere
