So the Geography BSc/Ba programme on our Exeter Penryn Campus has been officially canned this morning. No new entry from Sept 2026, current students to be ‘taught out’. It’s been under ‘consultation’ since July but we had to legally inform our offer holders this morning (A-Levels results day). 1/n

Paul4It's mad that they've done that on the morning of results. Even if they did it on Monday then the kids would have had chance to do some research. What are management thinking? The reputational damage is huge.

Liesbeth Corens4This is so utterly maddening. Withdrawal of courses (ON WHICH STUDENTS ARE BEING RECRUITED) takes months of forms and committees. Did Exeter simply not do that? Or did a lot more people know about this withdrawal and not tell anyone? Yes, staff, but also those students who bet their future on it
Graham Ward2Sad news. Geography is such a great degree (and of course I would say that as a Geography graduate for whom it was a path into a career in digital cartography).
