Amy Hunt completes 100m/200m sprint double at European Championships

Amy Hunt won the women's 200m in Birmingham to complete a 100m/200m sprint double at the 2026 European Athletics Championships, recording 22.19. Ireland's Rhasidat Adeleke took silver in a reported Irish national record of 22.28, while Britain’s Dina Asher-Smith finished third to claim bronze. Hunt had been the newly crowned European 100m champion and was quickest in the 200m semi-finals with 22.37, running from lane eight in the final. Great Britain entered the final with three of the season's quickest Europeans, including British champion Success Eduan, and the BBC noted Britain have only twice previously swept a European Championships podium. After the win Hunt said she would not allow herself to celebrate yet, and media coverage noted she is targeting further medals in Birmingham.
