Spider-Man: Brand New Day crosses $2 billion worldwide

comicsAug 17, 2026424,111

Spider-Man: Brand New Day has crossed $2 billion at the global box office, the first Spider-Man film to reach that landmark. Sony estimated the film earned about $70.0 million this past weekend from 4,539 locations, leaving an estimated domestic total of $785.83 million. The milestone puts Brand New Day ahead of Spider-Man: No Way Home as the franchise's highest-grossing entry. Industry coverage notes the film reached the $2 billion club very quickly, joining a short list of movies that have hit that threshold.

I have some thoughts about the new Spider-man that I will try to draw a comic about but for now here is this prescient comic from *2016*

comic in nine-panel grid. 1. Spider-man sits with coffee in a mug patterned like charlie brown's shirt. 2. He says, Hiya, Frank, as the Punisher walks in. Punisher grunts at him. 3. Spider-man turns to say, You punishin' hard or hardly punishin'? to Frank, off-panel.4. Eh? Spider-man says. Eh? 5. Spider-man sits up straighter, watching Frank off-panel. 6. Spider-man hunkers down, and speaks in black dialogue balloons with white writing, I'LL TELL YOU WHAT, SPIDEY, I JUST PUNISHED THAT BATHROOM, HEH HEH 7. Spider-man's spider sense goes off, and he cocks his head. 8. BLAM! Spider-man's coffee cup is shot off the table. 9. Spider-man yells at the off-panel Frank, YOU ONLY PUNISH YOURSELF WITH AN ATTITUDE LIKE THAT

I like his Charlie Brown mug

A Man Possessed19

This comics is great. My absolute favorite part? The Punisher walking by alters the direction of the steam from the mug, which slowly returns to its original state.

I love your sense of humor so much

My brain immediately thought that the mug was like the 80s Batman movie yellow with the black bat logo.

TBH this captures it perfectly. No notes.

spider-man invents a spider-puberty-blocker in the new movie and i think that really says a lot about society

I appreciate that the movie was able to represent an autistic sensory overload, very brave and stunning.

Mhurgle (Zappa d'Killa-Kloon)15

He just don't wanna turn into a giant spider-like creature like in Spider-Man: The Animated Series, Season 2, Episode 8... :(

former dog9

Look he was having strange feelings about a couple of girls and started waking up to fresh ropes all over his apartment, and he overreacted.

Oh so thats what the trans spiderman meme is about

Remember at the end of Spider-man Brand New Day, when Peter is ready to leave the hospital and he doesn't have his suit. Then Frank says, I have an idea. Was anyone else expecting something like this 👇 Or just me?

Crossed my mind. Hope they explore the Johnny/Peter rivalry/friendship at some point in upcoming movies.

TDub says TRANS RIGHTS or GTFO1

That would've ruled. We need the Bombastic Bag Man on screen for at least one instance. Just one.

I saw Spider-Man: Brand New Day again today, and I know the movie has gotten mixed reviews, but I watched it from a completely different perspective this time. Instead of focusing as much on the superhero story, I found myself thinking about grief, loneliness…

I think this is a reason that Spider-Man Brand New day was so popular, it was just a movie that you watched if you happen to catch any of the prior Spider-Man MCU movies

Avoiding Spider-man: Brand New Day spoilers was definitely worth it. I simply couldn't believe it when Spock and the Enterprise crew beamed in to save Peter Parker and stop Dark Saruman from unleashing his plan.

Just saw Spider-Man Brand New Day. far and away the best MCU Spider-Man movie. I thought the other 3 were good but underwhelming. But this one really knocked it out of the park. I really appreciated how much they tried to be more like the insomniac games with it too. 8.5/10.
