A memorial service for Bonnie Tyler took place at Swansea Minster as a hearse carried her coffin through Mumbles before driving to nearby Skewen for a private ceremony. About 1,000 people gathered on the streets outside the church, cheering and singing as she entered and left the service. Tributes at the service came from her live tour manager Matthew Davies and talent scout Roger Bell. Welsh choir Only Men Aloud performed Bridge Over Troubled Water and Total Eclipse of the Heart, and Mary Hopkin's Those Were The Days was played. Bonnie Tyler died on 8 July in a hospital in Portugal, aged 75, after emergency intestinal surgery and a period in an induced coma. After finding fame she was dubbed the female Rod Stewart and had a worldwide career spanning 50 years.
