Disney+ posts official watchlist ahead of Avengers: Doomsday
Disney+ released a list of essential projects to watch before AVENGERS: DOOMSDAY: -CONDORMAN -THE BLACK HOLE -THAT DARN CAT -PETE’S DRAGON -SUPERDAD -THE CAT FROM OUTER SPACE -HERBIE GOES BANANAS -ESCAPE TO WITCH MOUNTAIN -DARBY O’GILL AND THE LITTLE PEOPLE -SON OF FLUBBER -THE GNOME-MOBILE
A good chunk of that list slaps.
There’s always a good reason to watch THE CAT FROM OUTER SPACE!
And don't forget that for Doomsday to make sense, everyone needs to watch 'Something Wicked This Way Comes'
You joke but if the Cat from Outer Space appeared to help stop Dr Doom I would lose my shit

Not THE APPLE DUMPLING GANG?
While people have been bitching at me for years about how there's "no setup" but simultaneously "too much homework" for Doomsday and hand wringing about superhero fatigue, the MCU post-Endgame, and a bunch of other shit. Mark my words: Doomsday will make over 2 billion dollars.
Everyone has given me rants, dissertations, and editorials. I've only ever needed one argument. How is an Avengers movie with The Avengers, The Fantastic Four, the X-Men, Doctor Doom, and potentially Spider-Man NOT gonna succeed? Lol
Hell, the film is ALREADY SELLING OUT IN PRESALES. And it's not even September!
Thanos actually lost Stones while sitting on his ass and then finally took action. The "setup" here is all the other multiverse stuff that has been out for years.
All the people complaining on that ign post gave me flashbacks to highschool. In a bad way.
I do believe that superhero fatigue is a real thing. Marvel can't just release a movie called "Some Shopping Carts" and make a billion dollars anymore. But there are a select few brands that people will always show up for no matter what: Spider-man, Batman, Avengers... and that's it really.
To repeat/paraphrase what @bobchipman.bsky.social said, superhero fatigue seems to have died right when Homelander did. If it ever existed at all.
I *personally* could not care less about the Avengers rn. Disney (as a corporation) has done alot of harm to VFX artists on top of all the other crazy things theyve *been allowed* to get away with. And yet, Im positive this movie will still be a massive financial hit, superhero fatigue be damned.
I'm right there with you. And everyone complaining about setup is just pretending they/we knew more (from the movies) than we actually did.
Disney+ has released an official Avengers: Doomsday preparation watchlist, with 15 Marvel movies and TV shows you should catch up on before December 18, including a few deep cuts like Fox's X-Men and X2. https://bit.ly/4gibQ4L
Yeah, or I just don’t
Here’s 48 hours worth of content just to try and make sense of what we’re about to unleash here
Poor Marvels, they literally had the first X-Men crossover and now it's been forgotten
of all the movies no one has ever needed to watch to understand anything, Shang-Chi is very near the top
Y’all should watch Loki because it’s a good television show, not because it’s been deemed required watching.
I feel like you don’t HAVE to watch any of these fore mentioned shows or movies to enjoy Avengers Doomsday. I get a striking feeling that this movies gonna be just fine without having to do “homework” but I guess we’ll see come December!
A few deep cuts like the X-men movies with Hugh Jackman
no homework for movies, this is my belief
WHY THE FUCK DO MOVIES HAVE HOMEWORK NOW ILL FUCKIN GO YOU MATE
I have, of course, seen all of them
I think it would be more fun if they made a list for people who might be unfamiliar with the concept of movies to get them caught up on the language of cinema like starting with George Melies' A Trip to the Moon and The Jazz Singer and like Citizen Kane and Rashomon and all that
This is what’s been putting me off Marvel for years now. I don’t want to have to do homework to go and see a film. Absolutely, put Easter eggs in there for people who are super-keen and watch everything: that’s lovely. But making the plot dependent on me having seen it all? Absolutely not.
The thing is, like... it won't be worth it. They can't even be assed finishing scripts before they start filming, how much intricate storytelling could you expect
IGN does not know what the word Deep Cuts means just like they don't know how to write a fucking review.
Everybody else is like, "Why do movies have homework?" and I'm over here like, "Who forgot to put the shading just around the number for Loki's line?"
The only thing I really *mind* about this (which is clearly just for fun and to make angry nerds click things and make buzz) is “Loki.” Two seasons of TV, wow.
Marvel has released a list of films you need to watch to understand Avengers Doomsday. They are: Violent Night 1 and 2 Sonic the Hegehog 1, 2, and 3 Hey Stop Stabbing Me Gamebox 1.0 Golan the Insatiable Magma Head National Lampoon’s Dorm Daze 2
That last one is the most important.
Golan the Insatiable season 1 episode 6 “Dylan Crushes Reading” is considered particularly important to comprehending Dr. Doom’s, uh, motivations
Do I need to see National Lampoon’s Dorm Daze 1 to understand National Lampoon’s Dorm Daze 2?
I cannot wait to see Doctor Doom sitting alone in a room and watching old VHS tapes of his long lost love.
hmm, seeing a trend here
Finally I’m ahead of the curve
