sportsAug 18, 202629961

The Golden State Valkyries defeated the Dallas Wings 78-70 at home to clinch a spot in the 2026 WNBA Playoffs, improving to 25-9 on the season. Gabby Williams said she was "more excited just about how we've done it" and praised the team's fun approach, credit Kenzo Fukuda. The win completed a strong night for Golden State after a dominant second quarter, and the Valkyries shot 12-of-36 from three in the game. Golden State became the first WNBA team to make the playoffs in each of its first two seasons. Dallas entered the game as the No. 8 seed at 20-15 while Golden State was seeded No. 2 before the matchup. Local coverage noted Ballhalla will be loud in the playoffs and analysts flagged the Valkyries' growth through Year 2 of the expansion franchise.

Gabby Williams on clinching a playoff berth: “I'm more excited just about how we've done it more than us doing it. I knew we were going to do it since I got here, but I didn't expect us to do it this way, have this much fun.” cr: Kenzo Fukuda #Valkyries #GSV

You sit there saying the Golden State Valkyries can't shoot so you overhelp on the drive and leave someone open and they let it fly without hesitation.
