Weird Al Yankovic returned to NPR’s Tiny Desk with an expanded, electrified band and performed parodies and originals including "Skipper Dan," Backstreet Boys send-up "eBay," Don McLean pastiche "The Saga Begins," and the Emmy-losing closing-credits blues-rock jam from the 2022 biopic "Now You Know." Yankovic first played the Tiny Desk in 2010 with a lean, unplugged setup that focused on originals; this 2024 set features a larger nine-piece-ish group and a higher-spirited electric sound. The program mixed longtime hits from Running with Scissors and Poodle Hat with the Weezer pastiche "Skipper Dan" from Alpocalypse, showcasing Yankovic’s catalog of parodies, pastiches and originals. NPR’s write-up ends by noting a tongue-in-cheek intention to host Yankovic again in the summer of 2042, imagining him returning with even bigger arrangements.

another amazing thing: weird al has been touring with the exact same lineup with zero personnel changes since 1983. truly one of the longest running bands of all-time.

one of many reasons that "the compleat al" remains the far superior biopic is because his band is in it (the main reason being that al was/is much funnier & more charismatic than h. potter)

I believe this tour also played the pier in manhattan and it was technically my first show ever (born in dec of 87). Also it's amazing that it's literally been the same crew for him all these years.
