Weird Al Yankovic Tiny Desk Concert

musicAug 20, 202649267

“Weird Al” Yankovic played an intimate NPR Tiny Desk concert featuring parodies and originals, including “Skipper Dan,” “eBay,” “Now You Know,” and “The Saga Begins.” Yankovic delivered a mix of Don McLean’s “American Pie” parody “The Saga Begins,” Backstreet Boys’ “I Want It That Way” parody “eBay,” and the Weezer pastiche “Skipper Dan.” He also performed “Now You Know,” the blues-rock closing-credits jam from the 2022 biopic Weird: The Al Yankovic Story that lost an Emmy. NPR noted the band for this set had grown from the lean, unplugged lineup that played Tiny Desk in 2010 to a high-spirited, electrified group of players. The show leaned on Yankovic’s large catalog of parodies, pastiches, and originals rather than repeating the originals-focused 2010 set, and NPR closed by jokingly suggesting a return visit in 2042.
