Leaving Cert results released across Ireland

educationAug 21, 20262470

Students across Ireland received their 2026 Leaving Certificate results today, with online results available from 10am and secondary schools opening to let pupils collect grades in person. The State Examinations Commission said demand for higher education remains high as the CAO has received over 95,000 applications and Round One college offers are expected soon. Average grades have fallen from pandemic peak levels, but competition for university places remains intense because fewer students achieved top grades. In Donegal more than 2,300 students completed the Leaving Certificate and a further 253 finished the Leaving Certificate Applied programme. The ASTI President issued a statement congratulating Leaving Cert 2026 students. Subject-level reporting noted that physics and chemistry, often seen as difficult, continue to produce relatively high rates of top H1 grades. With results now released, the CAO will process applications to determine which students gain entry to their preferred courses and institutions.
