Dan Stevens cast as RoboCop in Prime Video series

tvAug 25, 202632551

Dan Stevens has been cast to play Alex Murphy and his cyborg alter ego RoboCop in Amazon MGM’s new Prime Video live-action series, Variety and Deadline report. The series adapts the MGM RoboCop movie franchise and involves showrunner Peter Ocko and Blumhouse Atomic Monster; James Wan is attached as a producer in reporting and posts about the project. Casting announcements describe Stevens in the title role; publicity and social posts note the series premise centers on a tech conglomerate placing a powerful robot on a city police force that houses a fallen officer’s consciousness. Coverage and social commentary range from strong praise for Stevens’s casting to skepticism about whether a Prime Video production can capture the original film’s satire. The series remains an upcoming Prime Video project with further production and release details to be announced.

DAN?! This is either going to be the greatest thing ever or make me *sob* actually dislike Stevens in something Very not enthused both about Prime & Wan being involved, but maybe they will surprise me. Wan's made some good things & Prime DID make Fallout & The Boys. I will try to remain optimistic.

any chance someone will have a new idea at any point, just asking so I should know if I'm ever going to be interested in anything ever again

Call me crazy, but I don't trust Amazon in handling this premise very well

Wabi Sabi For Robots6

Every sequel, remake, and television adaptation of ROBOCOP has failed to live up to the original because it is a singular work: a brilliant script brought to life by a top-tier cast and a director who never fully understood fully understood the American idiom. It's lightning in a bottle.

Robocop. Amazon corporation. Robocop. Amazon Corporation. ROBOCOP FROM THE AMAZON CORPORATION.

I will be seated for Dan! 😌

You could do a banger reboot of Robocop in the era of Flock cameras, big tech, ICE, militarized policing, etc. But will the showrunners have the stones for that? The 2014 remake was bad.

Can’t wait for a new fucked up accent!

Would 100000x rather see a THE GUEST series with Stevens roaming the earth like Kwai Chang Caine and messing up bad guys.

Ordinarily I wouldn't be remotely interested in a Robocop reboot, but this is weird enough to make me curious
