Naomi Osaka channels Allen Iverson in US Open entrance

Naomi Osaka opened her 2026 US Open campaign in an Allen Iverson, inspired look, arriving in a custom Who Decides War tulle and French terry gown styled by Law Roach that incorporated sewn-in newspaper clippings of her career. Designers Téla D’Amore and Ev Bravado said the look referenced Iverson’s gray sweats and his headband, and they built the outfit on roughly 30 hours’ notice after Osaka and Roach shared reference images. Osaka told Vogue she wanted to harness New York’s energy and that Nike’s seasonwide basketball inspiration pushed her toward a streetwear-forward approach. The silhouette also nodded to a fall 2020 Off-White dress by Virgil Abloh, a deliberate homage cited by the designers. Osaka wore cornrows and a headband during the entrance, and she translated the pageantry to the court by beating Anastasia Zakharova in straight sets, 7-6 (8-6), 7-6 (7-3), in her first-round match.
