Fernando Tatis Jr. hit two solo home runs for the San Diego Padres but the club fell 4-3 to the Cincinnati Reds on September 1, 2026. Tatis finished with his 19th homer of the season; his ninth-inning blast off Emilio Pagán had a 100.9 mph exit velocity, 27-degree launch angle and a projected 361 feet, cutting the deficit to one run. The Reds scored twice in the eighth inning, runs surrendered by Adrian Morejón, to take the lead that held up. The Padres went 0-for-10 with runners in scoring position, leaving Tatis’ two homers insufficient to overcome Cincinnati’s late rally. Tatis started the game at second base in San Diego’s lineup and delivered both of the Padres’ home runs in the loss. Final: Reds 4, Padres 3.
