HBO releases extended Harry Potter TV series trailer
As a new Harry Potter trailer makes the rounds, it bears repeating that there’s no way to watch this show without supporting J.K. Rowling’s bigotry and the structural violence she’s inflicting on the trans community.
a few of my friends were arguing with each other about pirating it - if that was more ethical. i think in the end, keeping it in the zeitgeist is probably the biggest issue, regardless how acquired or whether direct pay is made.
you could pirate it, or you could instead spend your time watching something that isn't the reheated leftovers of something that wasnt very good the first time
It really isn’t that hard to give up Harry Potter, yall. And there’s so much better fantasy school stuff you can read. Earthsea, Discworld, witch hat atelier, little witch academia… none of which are funding a vile human being.
*sigh* time to tap the sign again...
It needs to flop. Badly.
"I'll just pirate it" no. Harry Potter needs to be blasted from the cultural zeitgeist entirely. If you care even an iota about trans people you will watch Literally Anything Else
Don't support garbage No engagement equals no revenue. Do the right thing and show people and companies like this, like that shit head from five nights, and the bigot chicken place that you're not gonna give them a dime
Realistically I know I can't stop this show from making money hand over fist and I am too exhausted by the topic but just, like, I dunno man fuck this whole thing
correct, also: there are other, far better books for children. although I suspect those series is aimed less at kids, and more at adults who refuse to grow up
“But I’m not paying for it” every time you keep the fuckin wizard books relevant you’re doing their author a favor friend of mine said his wife just finished the series with their son and I just…what the fuck are you two doing? I know you have trans friends!
If you plan to watch Harry Potter, unfollow me. Because you're actively supporting anti-trans legislation that is killing people.
There is no amount of money you could pay me to watch this. The movies gradually got worse as they went and now they are scraping below the barrel to give you a zombie version that does nothing but help support a transphobe bigot
It's fun to actively NOT watch this show. Take pleasure in AVOIDING this show. Be sure to tell your friends and family to totally IGNORE this show.
I know I keep encouraging people who want a new magical fantasy series from Warner Bros. to check out Summer Camp Island, but perhaps my effort would be more successful if I used a clip perfectly illustrating exactly what makes that show so magical to accompany my latest post about it.
Gonna cut to the chase, based on the video view numbers statistically GFY! You are not my friend, you are an apathetic loser POS and should be called such. There's no "warning" you have always ignored us. Enjoy your children's show despite likely your 30+ years old.
I know you all know. But I still feel the need to wave this flag every once in a while, just to make really really sure.
Consuming Harry Potter content doesn't mean that someone is transphobic, but it does reveal that they don't care about the health and safety of trans people as much as they value a piece of fiction funding the modern genocide of trans people.
Consuming Harry Potter content doesn't mean that you're transphobic, but it does mean that I'm going to think less of you and feel a whole lot less safe and comfortable with you because while you might not hate me, you certainly don't have my back either.
Nah, consuming Harry Potter content makes you transphobic by proxy. If you want to funnel money into the pockets of those who want to kill us, you get the title that goes with it.
We have a word for that: transphobic
as always our enemy is the lust for Treats and if we are to survive the Treat Pipeline™️ must be destroyed.
straight up blocking anyone sharing the harry potter trailer idgaf.
I unfollowed someone who posted their wordle score today after being informed of the nyt's complicity.
I went on reddit and saw it posted. The comments were all "I can't wait to see this" and I wanted to scream
*tacks Sloane's sign on the wall*
Instead of posting the recycled slop of new potter, here's the swap: Nimona. Shapeshifting kid the whole kingdom calls an abomination for changing her own body. From a comic by a trans man. Same genre, none of your money to nazirowling. 😅 www.youtube.com/watch?v=f_fu...
Normally I do not hope a show is bad, but I legitimately hope that new Harry Potter show is fuck awful and so even the people who don't care about trans people enough to watch it fall off, and the whole thing loses everyone a shit load of money and tarnishes the entire brand.
I know this implies that people who still defend Harry Potter develop some form of taste but I can dream, can't I?
My main hope is that people aren't interested because they actually like/have nostalgia for the movies more than the books
I’d like people not to watch it because of the entirely seperate concern of it being a direct money pipeline to the forces of evil, but not holding out much hope, so would take the other thing.
One would imagine that warmed up leftovers of your nostalgic fav would be a big turn off for just about anyone but the current media landscape argues against that.
The worst part is even if that happens, JKR still gets a payday. Which wouldn't even be a thing if they just shut the fuck up and used their wealth to do anything else but actively damage other people worse off than them. Like, is there not a worthwhile charity they can get behind? No?
even setting aside the rowling of it all: it's weird to reboot harry potter simply based on the chronology of it all, yeah?
like, deathly hallows 2 came out 2011. it's weird. it's like if disney just decided to do a straight remake of A New Hope.
Yeah, bigtime. Like it's still a specific story, it's not like rebooting Spiderman or whatever. It'd be like casting a new Luke Skywalker in the 1990s and redoing Episode IV.
I sort of get remaking classics after a couple of generations have past. Especially if the original was obscure and you have something new to say. But a frame-by-frame copy of some recent big budget film series? There is no point other than greed. What other films didn't get made because of this?
A series, versus a movie, gives the makers a lot more room to delve into parts of the books that the movies discarded.
Even with all the culture war junk, the first two movies are slogs to get through. The movies only survived because the third one is an all time great kids movie. I don't see the series making it to season three because who needs 10 hours to tell stories were 2 hours were more then enough.
Really cynical move of HBO to release the harry potter show on christmas day that's some drug dealing CIA agent shit. Everyone better confront their mom and be like "hey don't watch that shit don't give money to the evil woman who wants to legislate Trans People out of existence"
has anyone else considered having a woke mom. it's pretty easy
the production costs seem like they ballooned crazy high (guessing bc they wanna make a BTS doc to keep the zombie IP abit longer) to such a degree that it seems like it will be a guaranteed profit loss. not that these ghouls care, they all have more money than god already
There aren't many reasons to be thankful for your parents being extremely Evangelical but I am glad it kept Harry Potter out of our home for promoting satanism (it had magic in it)
sometimes it can be a blessing having parents who only watch reruns of 60s sitcoms.
