Former Kentucky governor Matt Bevin arrested in Bourbon County

Former Kentucky Gov. Matt Bevin was arrested Thursday in Paris by the Bourbon County Sheriff’s Office and booked into the Louisville Metro Detention Center, where he was charged with resistance to a court order. Officers arrested Bevin while he was reportedly working as an extra on the set of a Christian film locally reported to be Great American Family’s The Greatest Christmas Gift of All. The arrest followed an active Jefferson County bench warrant after Jefferson Family Court Judge Angela Johnson found Bevin in contempt for failing to turn over required financial documents in his divorce and child support case. Johnson issued two arrest warrants over the summer, the first for failing to appear at a May hearing and the second in June over the undisclosed financial disclosures; Johnson sentenced Bevin on June 6 to 60 days in jail and a $500 fine. Bevin did not appear in person at a July 28 hearing in Louisville, where his ex-wife Glenna Bevin and estranged son Jonah Bevin testified; Jonah is seeking child support and has alleged he was abandoned at a Jamaican facility that was later shut down. The Bourbon County Sheriff’s Office did not immediately comment to reporters.
