Andy 'The Butcher' Williams dies aged 48
All of us at Mystery Wrestling are devastated to hear of the passing of Andy Williams, aka The Butcher. An incredible professional wrestler, musician and an even better person. We would like to send our condolences to his loved ones during this difficult time.
Always loved Andy's appearances on Mystery Wrestling. Fully embraced "comedy wrestling is professional wrestling". He'll miss him greatly.
I remember seeing Butcher go against Mark Briscoe for my first live AEW show, and damn was he awesome to watch. Rest in peace, Andy Williams.
What a brilliant guy, sadly missed!
Big Butch on comms was such a delight 💔
Andy Williams has been such an icon to the wrestling industry, showing the musician to pro wrestler pipeline, where the respect for what is done In the ring is there. He was a favourite of mine, his work not just in AEW but the indies will live on and I can’t thank him more for all he gave us.
Rest easy, Butcher. Wishing his loved ones all the strength and love.
Malakai Black may not be everyone's favorite, but he paid a loving tribute to Andy "The Butcher" Williams after winning the Progress Men's World Championship today. "There's nothing that can make my heart feel less, instead of cheering for me, please cheer for Andy one final time" #Wrestlesky
Like .... Malakai is a piece of work, but he's still a person who was friends with Butch. This sucks ass all the way around
I have listened to their entrance multiple times today.
He's not everyone's favourite from a wrestling stand point. As if the choice of the consumer. From the point of a human being, everyone's heart breaks for him losing one of his friends.
I'm here to thank Malakai. This loss is hurting everyone in the wrestling world, and this is a loving tribute and i feel emotional just looking at this pic of them in the ring so emotional.
Props to him, that’s really nice of him.
Our hearts are broken by the passing of "The Butcher" Andy Williams. Beloved by all, he was an incredible person who brought immense positivity to the wrestling community. We send our deepest condolences to all his loved ones. Thank you, Andy. We'll love, miss & never forget you.
Whenever we ran into each other, we seemed to have an instant connection, whether it was about wrestling, music and even my health issues. Just an awesome, incredibly cool dude. I don't know if I ever met a nicer person in wrestling who truly cared and looked to help elevate everyone around them.
I am at a total loss. Andy was a great guy all around. How awful.
When I started watching AEW I was like wait there’s a guy from Everytime I die AND there’s a guy who comes out to Amenra, then I found out about Gods Hate I was fascinated about the crossover of heavy music and wrestling. I didn’t listen to ETID but I remember seeing the flyers and t shirts around-
the time I was in a band playing shows I probably know more people who knew him from that music scene than wrestling , anyway I popped when he wore a converge shirt (I know converge are or atleast were wrestling fans) and I’m sad about this.
God's Hate, Amenra, Absent in Body, bands you never thought in a million years would ever be played on a semi regular basic on national tv. It's nuts. keep hoping we see more HENARE in AEW so we can get some Alien Weaponry
Andy was on an episode of Jericho’s podcast after he joined AEW and it was unintentionally hilarious listening to Jericho try to compare Fozzy to ETID. Yes, they are bands, but one plays cruises and the other gets invited to festivals and Warped Tour, they are not the same.
If you dont know theres a Maori wrestler for New Japan called Henare who comes out to Kai Tangata by Alien Weaponry (a Maori band singing in Te Reo Maori)
Go check out ETID. It's a good time to get into them youtu.be/C5otNfMIsKo?...
He represented one of the places where pro wresting and underground heavy music (two things that help define me) intersect. Today is a damn bummer.
A once in a lifetime band. Ex Lives is what I would consider their “magnum opus”, zero skips. RIP ANDY “THE BUTCHER” WILLIAMS
I have kept Low Teens in my rotation ever since the album dropped. Map Change is phenomenal. As an AEW fan, those deep lunges Andy would do in the middle of the ring were powerful and intimidating. He was effortless in the ring. RIP to a real one.
Yeah, man. It's been so sad today. The wrestling community has been a firehose of love for Andy and his being such a great guy.
New Junk Aesthetic is also on that level for me just a fuckin incredible band
the best to ever do it. devastating news
