Canada buying F-35's from the USA would be like Mexico buying Argentinian beef.

And possibly the purchase of Saab’s Gripen E-jets in lieu of commitment to purchase 88 Lockheed Martins F-35’s. Which I believe Saab would build facilities and manufacture in Canada.

My guess is the DOD pulled the USAF Thunderbirds before Hegseth made a thing out of it. What’s more interesting to me is the absence of the F-35. However poor the relations are between the US and Canada right now, Lockheed Martin’s got planes to sell.

In an earlier article, it was stated that the spare parts supply for the F-35 fighter jet always remains under the ownership and control of the USA. That alone would be something, as a buyer, that I would not accept. www.ctvnews.ca/vancouver/ar...

I read about purchasing F-35s being important to our defence policy (www.ctvnews.ca/vancouver/ar...), and it makes me grumpy; reducing our integration with the biggest threat to our sovereignty seems like it would be important to our defence policy too - but that's just me 🤷

If he refuses to sell to Canada, could that be seen as a breaking of the existing contract that forces Canada to buy at least some F-35's? Trump doesn't seem to understand the concept of unintended consequences.
