Hedge fund billionaire Chris Rokos is preparing to leave the UK and establish residency in Greece, opening an office in Athens, according to Bloomberg. Rokos, founder of Rokos Capital Management in 2015, was ranked third on the Sunday Times list of top UK taxpayers after an estimated £330 million tax bill in 2025; Bloomberg puts his net worth at about $4 billion. This year he gave a record £190 million to the University of Cambridge to create the Rokos School of Government. Rokos has been a prominent landowner who completed a reported £175 million renovation of the 200-room Tottenham House near Marlborough. Greece offers a 15-year high-net-worth investor regime that requires at least €500,000 in local investment within three years and lets qualifying arrivals pay a flat €100,000 a year on foreign income. Rokos’s move follows other high-profile departures after the Labour government overhauled the non-dom rules, cutting the tax-free period for foreign income and gains to four years and exposing global assets to inheritance tax after 10 years. Official data so far show only a modest 0.5% fall in non-domiciled residents to about 73,400 in the year to April.
