Metroid Ravenous was revealed during Nintendo Direct as a 2D Metroid coming exclusively to Nintendo Switch 2 on January 28, 2027, and the reveal centers on a new predator mechanic where Samus absorbs energy from defeated enemies. Many are reading the game as a direct continuation of Metroid Dread, framing Samus as having become the very hunter she once pursued and celebrating the darker turn in her DNA and motives. It's definitely anime, but it's also clearly influenced by Reiwa era Tokusatsu like Geats or Gozyuger that incorporate anime impact frames and effects into live-action presentations.
