Bird of the Day, theme 'Iridescence'

Bird of the Day is a daily event; today's theme is #Iridescence, for birds whose color changes with light. Submissions focus on glossy, light-shifting plumage in photographs and field shots, with an alternate theme of #Black&White also running. Standouts include a close-up male Mallard showing an iridescent green head and blue speculum, a Broad-billed Hummingbird waving hello from Madera Canyon, and a Nicobar Pigeon photographed at the Toronto Zoo. Expect starlings, grackles, magpies, and hummingbirds that double as Black and White entries when shown in certain light or poses.

Was at the Santa Rita Lodge last month & saw 100's of hummers that day! Lots of Broadbills. Three other bird nerds confirmed we saw a female Berylline; a rare Mexican visitor. Also saw a Magnificent.
