Bird of the Day, theme 'Mouthful'

Bird of the Day is running the theme Mouthful, a daily community prompt asking for any bird pictured with something in its beak. Gallery entries show feeding and foraging moments, close-up snack captures, and nest-provisioning shots, especially of small songbirds and raptors. Notable examples include a great egret carrying a snake, an American kestrel with a grub, and a Black-capped Chickadee holding a Yellow Salsify seed; other submissions show a Eurasian Jay with nuts, a barn owl with a vole, and a Pygmy Nuthatch with a pine seed and visible tongue. Look for kingfishers, puffins, red-winged blackbirds, and a gray heron with a fish under the Mouthful tag.
