Spanish Grand Prix qualifying at the Madring

Lando Norris took pole for the inaugural Spanish Grand Prix at Madrid's new Madring with a 1:31.824 lap. Kimi Antonelli put the Mercedes second, 0.011 seconds slower, and Lewis Hamilton was third for Ferrari, +0.140. Max Verstappen qualified fourth for Red Bull (+0.189) and Charles Leclerc was fifth for Ferrari (+0.195); George Russell was sixth (+0.325). Oscar Piastri, Liam Lawson, Franco Colapinto and Arvid Lindblad completed the top 10. Commentators and drivers have flagged the Madring's layout as one that heavily rewards qualifying and makes overtaking difficult, a view Leclerc echoed agreeing with Fernando Alonso's assessment.
